Advertising in the Print Versions of SMADC Major Guides
and Mini-directories
SMADC produces print versions of TWO MAJOR DIRECTORIES, each with 150-200 pages and a shelf life of 2 - 3 years. These include the Southern Maryland Trails Guidebook and the So. Maryland, So Good Farm Guide. These two major guides have large press runs, are distributed free to the public and are also available at
participating area farms, Maryland Visitors Centers
and other sites throughout the region.
In addition, SMADC publishes four targeted mini directories which have fewer pages and a smaller distribution. These include:
- SMSG Farms for the Holidays (printed every year)
- SMSG Equine Guide (printed every 3 -5 years)
- SMSG Meats and Seafood Directory
- SMSG Farmers Market Guide (printed every year)
The two major guides and four mini directories are full color, 5" x 8.5", booklet format. (The SMSG Farm Guide also
includes a SINGLE COLOR directory portion printed in blue ink. Discounted, single-color ads are available here.)
Full page and half page ads are available in all guides.
All ad pricing includes professional ad design.
20% DISCOUNT for repeat placement. After the initial ad design and placement, advertisers will receive a 20% discount when running the same ad (with no changes) in future print editions of the same SMADC publication or in any other printed SMADC publication.

Digital ad are
available on www.smadc.com, www.marylandfarmlink.com and www.buy-local-challenge.com. Ads are 180 pixels
wide by 150 pixels tall.

(includes design, set up and one
month placement on one website): $300
- Additional
months: $100 per month

Base price includes ad design: one
screen, up to 15 words, photo optional provided by
client, one hotlink. You can add an additional
screen for $75. (Your ad will alternate between two
screens.)
Notes on Ad Design:
If we design your ad:
Our designer will
contact you regarding the design of your ad. We will
need basic content (up to 50 words), your company
logo and any photos or art you would like to
include.
If you are submitting photos, they must be high
quality (300 dpi) jpegs titled with your company
name, i.e. “acme1.jpg.” Web files are not acceptable
for printing. Logo files must be high quality,
vector-based eps files. Other file formats can be
used on a limited basis.
Provide files on DVD or CD via mail, or e-mail files
(8 MB limit) to cbergmark@smadc.com.
If you submit a finished

Full page ad, no bleed: 8" tall x 4.5" wide
(vertical ad)
Full page with bleed: 8.5" tall x 5" wide is the
trim size; Please add .125" on all four sides for
bleed. Final ad size with bleed should be 8.75" tall
x 5.25" wide.Do not put any text or graphics closer
than a quarter inch to any edge. (safe zone)
Half page ad: 4.5" wide
by 3.875" tall
Formats/resolution/fonts:
Submit high resolution pdf or jpeg.
All pixel-based images should be 300 dpi.
For vector-based formats, convert fonts to curves.
*Ad fees cover basic
ad design provided all source files are
usable/acceptable. Ads
placed in printed guide only; contact SMADC for ad
opportunities in the online directory.
SMADC Policy on Release of Ad Files: (FOR USE IN NON-SMADC PUBLICATIONS)
Source Files and or pdf files can be purchased for an additional charge for customer’s personal use.
LIVE or source files can be made available to customer for $200 – These files are expensive because the files require complex preparation before release which is an additional expense for SMADC. Source files are relatively versatile as they can be adjusted and adapted as needed - but they do require an experienced graphic designer to manipulate the file for use in other publications/media.
We can release the pdf of your ad for a cost of $50.00; however please note that a pdf cannot be manipulated in the same way as live or source files, and is set for the specs/size that were used for the pages of the Guide/booklet it was designed for, and is therefore limited in its applications.
